Watamu Beaches

Watamu is a small village located on the Kenyan coast, approximately 50 Kilometres North of Mombasa and 25 km south of Malindi. Watamu lies on a small headland, between the Blue Lagoon and Watamu Bay. Its main industries are tourism and fishing. Watamu is 15 kilometers from Malindi.

The beach in Watamu features  a series of sheltered bays with white sandy beaches and gentle water  very suited for swimming. there is a coral formations arranged in three bays: Watamu Bay, Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay.

They are protected as part of the Watamu Marine National Park.Situated just before Malindi, Watamu has secluded hotels and lovely accommodation.

How to Get To WatamuHow to Get to Watamu

The gateway to the North Coast is Mombasa, although some visitors fly directly to Malindi then go by road to Watamu which is 20 minutes away.

By Road:Driving your own car or hired car as far as Watamu is very easy. There are regular buses and matatus along the North coast.

By Air: Malindi airport has daily scheduled flights from Nairobi and Diani. The airport also serves Private Charters.

Regular buses and Matatus service the North Coast Highway. Services are less regular north of Watamu. Taxis can be found in any town, or at most hotels or resorts.
